We've put up the chook fence. They were pretty annoyed the first couple of days, but have settled in.
On the weekend, we managed to move the wood fired stove from the alcove to outside. Pulling that sort of weight on a piece of carpet doesn't work :D However, we have some steel poles under the house (the sort they put street signs on), so placed them in front of the stove, rolled it a bit, put another down and so on. The stairs scared us, thinking it would simply topple over and crash into bits, taking the stairs with it. But the weight of thing worked for us here. It was simply too heavy to move at all. Again the steel poles came to the rescue, but this time we used them the other way, as a slippery ramp for it to slide down on.
Rob removed the hot water system, and we then ripped up the lino tiles (yeah, couldn't be lino sheeting) and pulled out tonnes of nails!
There's a photo of the alcove. The blue is the undercoat to cover the orange. Funny, even though the orange is a horrible shade of the colour, I prefer it to the blue. The blue is a nothing colour. I'm not sure what colour I'll end up painting the kitchen. The kitchen was yellow before it was orange, and we've discovered some really ugly greens in the house as well. Oh and some awful lino ;)
We scored a fabulous, huge sink at half price. The appliances are waiting as well. Gas stove removed, and just waiting for the bench tops to arrive from wherever they're ocming.
